What are ions?
An ion is an atom or a molecule in which the total number of electrons is not equal to the total number of protons, giving the atom or molecule a positive or negative electrical charge. All ions are charged, meaning like all charged objects they are "attracted to positive to negative or vice verse", "repelled by like charges", "travel in trajectories that are deflected by a magnetic field".
